Art/Artist

Today we explored Monet. We made our own interpretation of his Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies painting. We used tape to tape off a bridge and then used finger paints to paint our canvas. We read "Mix it Up!" to learn about color mixing.

We learned about Michelangelo. We looked at his famous ceiling painting he did in the Sistine Chapel. We tried painting laying down by adding paper under the table. They loved it, and this will explain any paint you found in weird places on your kiddos! Our VIP shared his poster and his favorite book with us.

Art/Artist

We learned about the Russian Abstract Artist Vassily Kandinsky. His famous painting Squares with Concentric Circles reminds me of the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds. It is one of my favorite art books about building children's confidence when it comes to art and painting. We made our own Circle/Dot painting. We had another friend lose a tooth. That's 2 this year! I posted a link to the site I use for our Artist information on our Facebook page. I don't read their whole biography to them, but tell them parts I think they would find interesting. I like that it is written for children.

REMINDER - I will be ordering Parade T-shirts tomorrow. Please, let me know by noon if you want some. Thank you!

"Color is a power that directly influences the soul.  Color is the keyboard. . . the artist is the hand that plays."  –Vassily Kandinsky
