A must read for the beginning of the school year is The Kissing Hand! It is a sweet story about going to school and still feeling mom's love through a kiss placed in the palm of Chester Raccoon's hand. We used our hands for our table activity by exploring finger paint! We used the primary colors red, yellow, and blue and did a little color mixing.
We welcomed 2 more new friends today!! We read Preschool Time. For table time we practiced using stick glue and scissors and made beautiful art work using our scrap box. We played outside and had fun in the classroom, we even had a power outage that lasted about an hour and a half. We spent most of that time on the playground so wasn't a huge issue, except for the kiddos that needed to use the restroom. They didn't like that they couldn't turn the light on!
This is a week of getting to know each other, learning routines and schedules, trying new things, and for some learning how to be away from mommy and daddy! We welcomed another new friend and had a couple more come back after taking the summer off :) We read I'm Not Ready, practiced writing our names, and painted with watercolors.
We are very excited to get our new school year going! Today, we welcomed back some of our friends that took the summer off. It was so great to see them! We read The Pout-Pout Fish Goes to School and spent some time talking about the fun things we did over the summer. We drew a picture with markers, some painted at the easel and made colorful headbands.
