Gingerbread

This week our letter is U and our theme is Gingerbread. We read one of our many Gingerbread books and for our activity we acted out the story. They love being little actors! They were moving so quick it was hard to get an unblurry picture!!

Thanksgiving

We read The Very Stuffed Turkey. We made a list of some of the foods we may have at our Thanksgiving dinner and voted for which item was our favorite. Turkey was definitely the most popular! We made cranberry sauce, but first we did a little science experiment. We looked at a cranberry and then decided if we thought it would sink or float. We were tied with 7 thought they would float and 7 thought they would sink. We discovered that cranberries do float! We then added 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and our cranberries to a pan. I boiled them for 10 mins and then let them cool. We will enjoy our fresh cranberry sauce with our Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow.
REMINDER - PLA will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for Thanksgiving. Have a safe and wonderful holiday!

Special Visitors

What a crazy fun Friday!  Our VIP shared her Uncle Larry with us! He works for Missouri State Parks and he brought in animal pelts of animals that you could find in our parks. He taught us some new words like habitat, carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, and nocturnal. The kiddos loved touching the furs and his visit was definitely the talk of the morning. I asked them which animal was their favorite and none of them picked skunk!! Their answers:
Tori - I love the Raccoon!
Jace - Fox
Willow - The Little Raccoon
Lyla - Bobcat
Harper - Coyote
Katy - Fox
Myles - Bunny Rabbit
Connor - Fox
Titus - The Swimming Otter and the Awesome Bobcat
Nathan - The Little Raccoon
Grant - The Big Raccoon
Lexi - The Raccoon
Annabelle - The Big Cat
Thank you for coming!  It was very cool!
Ashley Reynolds from ky3 came and videotaped the end of lunch transitioning to naptime. She then interviewed me about a scam that thank goodness I didn't fall for. Our first ever TV appearance will air on Monday during the 6:00 news!
REMINDER : PLA will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week for Thanksgiving!

The First Thanksgiving

At Circle Time we did not get to our Thanksgiving book, because the kiddos were full of stories and wanted to take turns sharing instead. Most of the conversations were about hunting, and animals they have seen. We have been singing fun Thanksgiving songs Albuquerque is a Turkey and The Cranberry Rolled Away. For table time we painted turkey feathers using forks! KY3 will be here tomorrow and we will be on the news 1 day next week! I will let you know more when I know more!
