Art/Artist

This week we will be exploring art and learning about a few famous artists. We read Beautiful Oops!  At the beggining of the school year, we have a lot of kids tell us they can't do art. But by this time in the school year I am very proud of where my kiddos are at expressing themselves through their artwork and their confidence in using all the different art materials. 95% of our table activities are process art instead of product art. Product art is that cute little cookie cutter art where all of the kiddos looks the same and looks like the teacher did most of the work. Well, it looks like that because they did. While product art may be cute, I like the kiddos to express their own creativity. We put materials in front of them and they are able to create something beautiful! And the best part is they did it all on their own! This builds their self esteem and creates well rounded, free thinking, I CAN do this students!
For table time today we painted with many different painting options. Watercolor, paint dobbers and paint with brushes. We also started our big canvas for the children to add to all week.
